My Favorite Wildcat Moment of 2011: UofA beats ASU to win Territorial Cup

As we count down to the last moments of 2011, I’d like to take just a moment to reflect on my favorite moment as a Wildcats fan this year. When the Wildcats completed their 4th quarter comeback on November 19th to defeat the Sun Devils by a score of 31-27 on their home field, it felt like the UofA had just won a national championship.

The Cats were in the middle of a disastrous season which saw their head coach Mike Stoops get fired and their Rose Bowl hopes end before Sean Miller had even held his first preseason practice. The Sun Devils were still fighting for the inaugural Pac 12 South championship and a spot in the conference championship game. Arizona, with nothing but pride to play for, really had no business winning that game but that’s what’s so wonderful about the annual Territorial Cup game. Somehow the season feels like it was a success no matter what the final record might say.

I’ll take a win over our hated rival to the north over a middle-tier bowl game appearance every single time. Wouldn’t you?

Happy 2012, everybody! May you and yours be blessed in the new year…GO CATS AND BEAR DOWN!
