The Arizona Wildcats Basketball Season in Review: Solomon Hill

In my blogs for the next few weeks I want to take a look at the Arizona Wildcats roster that will be coming back next year.  This week I want to focus on the season that Solomon Hill had and how that could relate to our team next season.

I think Solomon Hill had a very good year for the Arizona Wildcats.  Hill has a lot of talent and with the right mindset he may actually have the possibility of playing professional basketball.  It may not be pro ball in the NBA but Hill has the physical abilities to turn into a next level player.

Hill started to develop a nice shot this season which makes me think if he works hard over the off season and take note of what Kyle Fogg did he will come back even more improved.  Hill has always had great handling for a guy his size which makes him hard to match up with.  He can consistently break his defender down with his dribble and pass the ball with ease when he needs to.

The biggest concerns that Hill has are that he is not consistent and he needs to play more aggressively.  He had a team that he should have been the go to guy for this season but he was hesitant to accept that role in every game.  He would have a 20 point game and then follow it up with a single digit performance, and this happened time after time.  Hill could have easily been on the top of the Pac 12 in Free throw attempts but he shied away from contact at times.

The bottom line is if Hill puts in the work he is exactly the type of Senior that the Wildcats will need to play with the young recruits that are coming in next year.  He will be the leader of this team and will have the youngsters looking to him for mentoring throughout the year.  In a lot of ways he will be the reason that next year’s team could make a deep run into the tournament or not even make it again.
