By dismantling miniature football school South Carolina State 56-0, the Arizona Wildcats gave themselves the resume booster in a game that could only hurt them unless they tossed a shutout. Luckily, the Wildcats came to play.
Matt Scott led an offensive record 43 first downs and had another sparkling 30-36 in the pocket with 288 yards in only three quarters. On top of that, he rushed for 61 more yards plus a score.
In a game that which gave almost everyone on scholarship a chance to play (and even some walk-ons), it allowed UA to rest its starters in preparation for next weeks monumental game against #3 Oregon.
After breaking into the Top-25 for the first time in over a year last week, Arizona moved up to #22 in the Associated Press poll, while slightly higher at #21 in the Coaches Poll.
In other polling news, after beating then #2 USC 21-14, Stanford moved up to nine in the AP poll. USC however dropped out of the top 10. Notre Dame, always a favorite of college football executives due to their fans moved up to 11 in the AP after taking down Michigan State. The top did not change, as Alabama kept it’s number one ranking by destroying Arkansas 52-0. LSU moved into the second spot by crushing Idaho 63-14, followed by previously mentioned Oregon.
