After a much needed bye week, Arizona came out on family weekend and trounced the visiting Huskies. Arizona played an all around football game creating turnovers on defense and converting big plays on offense. Arizona’s defense accounted for two interceptions and one fumble recovery to help its offense get ahead early and never look back. Senior Quarterback Matt Scoot looked stellar throwing for a career high four touchdown passes along with one rushing touchdown. Two of his touchdown throws were to his favorite receiver Austin Hill, who ended the night with 70 yards on two receptions. Hometown favorite Kadeem Carey continues to improve and finish each play strong as he seems to always fall forward to pick up a couple extra yards at the end of each play. He rushed for 172 yards and one score on 29 carries.
The Huskies got on the board first by scoring a field goal, but Arizona responded by scoring 24 unanswered points. Matt Scoot threw for two touchdown scores, both over 27 yards and really beautiful throws on great reads. The Huskies were finally able to get things going as they scored on a long 75 yard drive. Again the WIldcats responded by going 4 plays for 75 yards in about a minute to score on a 53 yard touchdown pass to Austin Hill. After the Cats held the Huskies to a punt, Matt Scott looked to be driving the Cats down the field for another score before the half, but things got ugly. He was picked off and the Huskies returned it back to inside the Arizona 5 yard line. Washington was able to score right before the half, although this touchdown would be their last. Arizona cruised in the second half punishing the Huskies on the ground and scoring 21 points to win the game 52-17 winning their first Pac-12 game and going 4-3 on the year. Next up are the USC Trojans at home, game time is 12 PM Arizona time. Stay tuned for a preview later in the week.
