Arizona Football Underrated?

I was watching the Monday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans this week and I couldn’t help but feel that Arizona Football may be underrated.  When the starting lineups for each team were announced 3 Arizona Wildcats were starting for 2 of the best defenses in football.  Isn’t developing players for the next level one factor that determines success for your football program?  Most definitely!!

Brooks Reed and Earl Mitchell are starters for the Texans defense and Lance Briggs is a starter for the Bears defense.  Those are 2 of the nastiest defenses in football and these 3 players are big keys to how good those defenses are.  It got me thinking about how good the Wildcats are at developing players for future success.

So here is a list of other players that have started or played significant roles for their respective teams this season:

Antoine Cason, Nick Foles, Nick Folk, Spencer Larsen, Rob Gronkowski, Juron Criner, Mike Thomas, D’Aundre Reed, and Eben Britton.

Now obviously Arizona doesn’t have a list like Alabama but those are some pretty good players that are in the NFL.  For a school that is always thought of for the basketball team it is good to know that Arizona football has placed some familiar faces at the next level.  We may not get a lot of wins each year at Arizona but Wildcat football may actually be a little underrated when it comes to pure talent.
