Zona Zealot Pac-12 Basketball Power Rankings Puts Arizona Wildcats Back on Top

1. Arizona Wildcats (23-4, 11-4) last: 2

After getting booted from the #1 spot of the Zona Zealot Power Rankings last week, the #11 Wildcats took it personally and swept the Washington schools in dominating fashion. Arizona appears to be clicking down the final stretch. Will they be able to keep it up on the road against USC and UCLA this week? Their chance for a Pac-12 Championship will depend on it.

2. Oregon Ducks (22-6, 11-4) last: 1

#24 Oregon suffered their second close loss to California, but took care of Stanford handily at home. As the season comes to a close, the Ducks will need the return of Dominic Artis to come out on top.

3. UCLA Bruins (20-7, 10-4) last: 2

After getting embarrassed by USC on their own home floor a few weeks ago–and on the same night in which Reggie Miller’s jersey was retired–the bruins got their revenge against USC on the road this week. UCLA’s game against Arizona this Saturday could be the most important game for both teams this Pac-12 season.

4. Colorado Buffs (18-8, 8-6) last: 4

A 10 point win over Utah is a 10 point win over Utah.

5. California Golden Bears (18-9, 10-5) last: 6

If people thought California was as good as dead when it came to the NCAA tournament, the Golden Bears were not listening to it. A five game winning streak–which includes wins over Arizona, UCLA and Oregon–suddenly puts California back into the tournament picture and even gives them a chance at a piece of the Pac-12 Championship pie.

6. Arizona State Sun Devils (20-8, 9-6) last: 5

The Sun Devils just can’t figure Washington out, dropping their second game of the year to the Huskies at home. One factor is most certainly boards–Washington has out-rebounded ASU by a combined count of 66-36. With only two solid games left (UCLA, Arizona) and the Pac-12 Tournament, Arizona State is running out of opportunities to impress the NCAA committee.

7. Stanford (16-12, 7-8) last: 7

Beating Oregon State and losing to Oregon is nothing more or less than expected.

8. USC Trojans (12-15, 7-7) last: 7

Though the Trojans went on a four game winning stretch, their back to back losses to Cal and UCLA illustrate this is still a team with a lot of work to do. Facing Arizona tomorrow night may add to their losing streak.

9. Washington Huskies (15-13, 7-8) last: 9

Beating Arizona State gives Washington their first road win of the second half of the season.

10. Utah Utes (11-15, 3-11) last: 10

The Utes made all of their free throws (a whopping 4), and even though Colorado went only 60% from the free throw line, the Buffs got 16 more attempts than Utah did.

11. Oregon State Beavers (13-15, 3-12) last: 11

The Beavers get swept in the Bay Area.

12. Washington State Cougars (11-17, 2-13) last:12

Washington State gets swept in Arizona–equally un-shocking. The Cougars are now on an 8 game losing streak.
