Arizona Wildcats Recruiting Updates

Another fun filled week for AAU events with Nike EYBL Boo Williams, Peach Jam, Pangos, Gulf Coast and Jam Fest. This week we will be looking at two top players from the 2015 class. As we know Miller likes to start recruiting early and has already established good relationships with these juniors to be.
First on this list is 6′-8″ 200 lbs PF Chimezie Metu. This Nagerian native was at the Pangos Sweet Sixteen and drew a lot of attention with his hustle play and jump shot. In many ways he reminds me a lot of Angelo Chol; has a very long frame, great feet, runs the floor well, and can hit the 15-footer. He lacks the confidence and assertiveness though and will need to improve in this area as time goes on. He is known for his floor awareness as he passes well out of the post. He recently said he will visit Arizona this month. We look forward to having him on campus and watching him improve as a player.

Second, is Isaiah Briscoe, a 6′-3″ 200 lbs combo guard from New Jersey. He plays for the NJ Playaz, whom Kaleb played for. Briscoe was recently at the Nike EYBL in Virginia (Boo Williams) and was turning heads with his performances. He used his big frame to his advantage as he continuously got to the rim at ease scoring at will. He pulled up and made jumpers on the regular, it was obvious he was in a groove over the weekend. It will be interesting to see how he translates his game once he faces opponents of his caliber. As of now he looks like a man amongst children with such a bigger frame than other kids his age. As a combo guard he is really good at creating his own shot, but at times he tends to force shots. He will need to realize when he’s off he needs to penetrate to create shots for others then dish. We will keep a close eye on him to see how he develops as other youngsters his age will be going through growth spurts and the competition will be on a more fair playing field.

ESPN  recently released their final 2013 top 100. It is no surprise that Arizona has all three of their ’13 recruits in the top 100. What is a surprise is that Rondae Hollis-Jefferson dropped a few spots to #21. Meanwhile, Aaron Gordon is #4 and Elliot Pitts is #93.
