Before the May stretch picks up, Arizona has been in the ears of many recruits and it has showed as many are considering the Wildcats in their top choices. Recently a couple young 2015 have earned the respect of the Wildcats coaches. With their spring AAU performance recruits D.J. Hogg and Daniel Giddins received offers from Miller and Co.
First, let’s look at the long Texas native D.J. Hogg. At 6′-7″ he is listed as a Power Forward, but as he grew three inches in the past year, he played a lot at the Small Forward position. He shows it too with his three-point range and ability to score in multiple ways on the floor. As with many players who have experience in two positions his IQ is through the roof. He is a great help defender and crashes the boards hard. It will be interesting to see how much he grows this year and if he can put any weight on his skinny frame. In high school he averaged 16.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 steals where he naturally drew comparisons to fellow Texas native Kevin Durant.
Next, is another long and athletic big man, but a Center. Daniel Giddens is already ranked in the ESPN top 25 for the 2015 class and is listed at 6′-10″. This Georgia native already has many offers from the top programs from around the nation and it’s easy to see why. His potential is so high with a great frame for such a young kid. With the right mentoring, he can become even more dominant if he puts on more weight and muscle. He already has greats hands and can run the court well, once he adds a few pounds to bang down low with the big fellas he can be a big contributor once he gets to the college level. He already shows that heavyweight mentality with his go to power bounce dribble down on the blocks and will look to develop some more go to moves around the hoop. Arizona will be on high alert to see him grow as a player and hopefully have him contribute as a Wildcat in 2015.
