Arizona Wildcats Release Depth Chart For NAU Game

It’s officially game week and Arizona Wildcats head coach Rich Rodriguez celebrated by releasing the school’s first depth chart of the season.

Not surprisingly, Rodriguez did not list a single starter at quarterback for Friday’s game against NAU.

In total, there are 12 seniors, 16 juniors, 10 sophomores and 14 freshmen listed on the two-deep (not including special teams). This includes eight true freshmen, which shows that Rodriguez will not be afraid to use some of the newcomers early in the season.

The 28 players listed at the 23 offensive and defensive starting positions have combined for 255 career starts. They are led by offensive tackles Mickey Baucus and Fabbians Ebbele with 25, followed by cornerback Shaquille Richardson and defensive lineman Sione Tuihalamaka (24), linebacker Marquis Flowers (23) and linebacker Jake Fischer (21).

Interestingly, some key contributors from last season were excluded from the depth chart. Linebacker Sir Thomas Jackson, who started 12 games last season, and safety Wayne Capers Jr. and linebacker C.J. Dozier, who both started one game, were not listed on the two-deep.

Wide receivers Austin Hill and David Richards and defensive lineman Dan Pettinato, who combined for 34 career starts, were not listed on the depth chart due to injury.

Don’t be surprised if Rich Rodriguez modifies this list before Friday’s 7 p.m. PST start. Also don’t be surprised if he doesn’t strictly follow the depth chart come game-time.
