On Sunday, Arizona director of on-campus recruiting and player personnel Matt Dudek tweeted the coaching staff’s players of the week from Friday’s 35-0 win over Northern Arizona:
Offensive Player of the Week: Daniel Jenkins, RB
Jenkins ran for a career-high 139 yards on 12 carries in place of the suspended Ka’deem Carey. He accounted for two touchdowns – a 91-yard touchdown run and a 13-yard reception – en route to racking up 152 total yards.
Defensive Player of the Week: Tra’mayne Bondurant, S
Bondurant recorded his fourth and fifth career interceptions, returning the first one 23 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also had seven tackles, including one for a loss.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Shane Wilson, CB
Wilson recorded one tackle in the game, a monstrous hit on NAU kick returner Marcus Alford in the first quarter.
“Hard Edge” Player of the Week: Scooby Wright, LB
Wright was as good as advertised in his collegiate debut, finishing with seven tackles, including one for a loss. He also tipped a pass that eventually resulted in Bondurant’s interception return for a touchdown.
Scout Team Players of the Week: Davonte Neal’, WR (offense), Sir Thomas Jackson, LB (defense), Shane Wilson, CB (special teams)
