Offensive Player of the Week: Ka’deem Carey, RB
After sitting out the first five quarters due to disciplinary reasons, Carey started his season with a bang, running for a 58-yard touchdown on his first touch. The nation’s reigning rushing leader finished with 171 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns.
Defensive Player of the Week: Jake Fischer, LB
Fischer recorded his first career interception in Saturday’s blowout, returning it 49 yards for a touchdown. While he only recorded one tackle, he helped the Wildcats hold the Rebels to only 282 yards of total offense.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Jake Smith, K
Smith set the Arizona single-game record for points by a kicker with 16 in the win. He made all 7 of his PAT attempts, while making 3-of-4 of field goal attempts (made 29, 30 and 41, missed 39). He also recorded one tackle on one of his kickoffs.
“Hard Edge” Player of the Week: Scooby Wright, LB
Wright won the award for the second consecutive week after another productive game. He led the Wildcats with seven tackles, including one for loss. The true freshman leads the Wildcats in tackles with 13 through two games.
