Arizona’s Wilbur T. Wildcat is one of 16 mascots competing in the annual Capital One Mascot Challenge and he needs your help.
Wilbur currently ranks 15th after losing his Week 1 matchup to Virginia Tech’s Hokiebird (Virginia Tech) and his Week 2 matchup to Raider Red (Texas Tech). He’s currently leading Bucky Badger (Wisconsin) in Week 3.
Fans can earn up to 100 points for their favorite mascot by visiting CapitalOneBowl.com. One point is awarded for hitting “Vote Now,” and weekly challenges are worth 25 or 100 points.
The winning school is awarded $20,000 towards their mascot program.
This marks the third consecutive year that an Arizona mascot has participated in the competition. Wilbur also competed in 2011, while his wife Wilma competed in last year’s challenge. Wilbur finished in the final four, while Wilma failed to qualify for the playoffs.
The other mascots in this year’s competition are Baldwin the Eagle (Boston College), Pee Dee the Pirate (East Carolina University), Mike the Tiger (LSU), Sparty (Michigan State), Rocky the Rocket (Toledo), Big Jay (Kansas), Monte (Montana), The Duck (Oregon), Rocky the Bull (University of South Florida), Smokey (Tennessee), Big Red (Western Kentucky) and Cam the Ram (Colorado State).
Peedee the Pirate, Big Red, Rocky the Bull, Rocky the Rocket and Monte are currently tied in first place.
