Pac-12 Football Predictions: Week 6

While Arizona isn’t in action this weekend, nine Pac-12 teams play a total of five games, which includes four conference matchups. I’m now at 33-8 on the season after incorrectly picking only one game last weekend. Here are my Pac-12 Football Predictions for Week 6:

Utah vs. UCLA
The Bruins travel to Salt Lake City to play an upstart Utes squad that is just two wins away from their total last year. Pac-12 teams have struggled on Thursday night road games in recent history – see USC vs. Utah in 2012, Stanford vs. Washington in 2012, UCLA vs. Arizona in 2011, etc. While I don’t think the Bruins will lose, I expect the Utes to make the Bruins (and Bruins fans) slightly uncomfortable.
Pick: UCLA

California vs. Washington State
This might end up as the battle to not finish last in the Pac-12 North. The Cougars came back down to reality in a blowout loss to Stanford, while the Bears lost by more than two touchdowns for the third time in four games. On average, Washington State throws the ball about 52 times a game and they will be facing a Cal defense that ranks 85th in the nation in passing defense. I’ll give Washington State the edge in this one.
Pick: Washington State

Colorado vs. Oregon
Just like last week, the Ducks should have no problem with one of the Pac-12 bottom dwellers. The bigger debate is whether or not they’ll hit their per-game averages of 599.3 yards and 59.8 points. I’ll say yes.
Pick: Oregon

Notre Dame vs. Arizona State (at Arlington, Texas)
The Sun Devils finally got their offense going in a 62-41 win over a USC team that had only allowed 41 points in four games. The Fighting Irish, on the other hand, have lost both their games against ranked teams – 41-30 to Michigan and 35-21 to Oklahoma – and have only beaten Temple, Purdue and Michigan State by a combined 33 points. I think Arizona State wins this one easily.
Pick: Arizona State

Stanford vs. Washington
The Cardinal seem to have gotten back on track after underwhelming wins against San Jose State and Army, beating Arizona State and Washington State by a combined 97-45 score. Meanwhile, the Huskies are looking to assert themselves as Pac-12 (and possibly National Championship) contenders with an upset on the road. I think that Stanford, who lost in Seattle last season, avengers last year’s loss in a close one.
Pick: Stanford
