The Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team was picked as the preseason favorites to win the Pac-12 in 2013-2014 Thursday, according to the conference’s media members.
The Wildcats received 21 out of 23 possible first-place votes. Reigning conference champion UCLA and Colorado, who finished second and third in the poll, received the other first-place votes. Oregon and California made up the rest of the top-5.
California, Stanford, Arizona State, Washington, Utah, Oregon State, USC and Washington State rounded out the rest of the poll.
It was the second straight year the Wildcats were picked to finish first and the 13th time in the 21 years of the poll. The Wildcats, who eventually finished tied for second last season, have been correctly picked to finish first seven of 12 times.
The conference media have correctly picked the winner 12 out of 21 times.
Arizona will host Augustana in an exhibition on Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at McKale Center. They begin the regular season at home against Cal Poly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.
