Sophomore quarterback Nick Isham has informed the team that he has decided to transfer from The University of Arizona. Isham transferred to Arizona after his freshman year at Louisiana Tech. where he started in 7 games under head coach Sonny Dykes, former Arizona Offensive Coordinator.
It seems as if last year was Isham’s best chance to compete for the starting spot before BJ Denker ended up running the show, but even then it didn’t seem likely. With talent like Jerrard Randall and Connor Brewer eligible this year, Jesse Scroggins and Anu Solomon in the mix for the starting quarterback job once again, as well as Khari McGee making the switch from receiver to quarterback, Isham got pushed to the back of the line.
Nick Isham was the place kick holder for the Wildcats this year and never botched a snap, so he was a nice asset to have. It’s unfortunate for Isham, transferring here with the hopes of becoming the starting quarterback, to having to transfer once again. But at least he will be able to get an opportunity to play somewhere; Arizona just didn’t work out for him.
