Two more days, two more recruits for Rich Rodriguez and gang. This is the second time this month where Arizona has received commitments from recruits on back-to-back days and this time Arizona adds to both offense and defense. With these two commitments, Arizona now holds the #2 recruiting class in the Pac-12 behind USC according to 247 Sports.
The first commitment came yesterday from Orlando Bradford, 3-star running back out of defending state champion Cavalry Baptist Academy (Shreveport, LA). With offers from Tennessee and Utah, Bradford will join the Wildcats and hopefully create a recruiting pipeline for Arizona at Cavalry Baptist. The commitment from Bradford is huge for Arizona as his quarterback, Shea Patterson, is the #1 pro style quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class. Patterson committed to Arizona his freshman year of high school (2012), however he’s been one of the most sought out recruits in the country receiving offers from Michigan, Alabama and Notre Dame since then. It’s good to know that Patterson will have a familiar face in the huddle should he honor his commitment to Arizona. Bradford’s highlights are below.
Arizona currently has 12 commitments for 2015, four of which will be on defense. The latest defensive recruit is Anthony Mariscal, 3-star athlete from Liberty High (Bakersfield, CA). Just two weeks after receiving an offer from Arizona, Mariscal pledged to the Wildcats, despite heavy interest from BYU, Utah, Boise State and Oregon. Mariscal will come in as a safety with some nice speed, holding a 6-0 192lb frame. His highlights are below.
And of course, we’re all awaiting for July 10th, the day that Kahlil Mackenzie announces his college destination. The 5-star defensive tackle, currently ranked as the #10 recruit in the 2015 class according to 247 Sports, has Tennessee and Arizona as his top two schools. Mackenzie has confirmed that Tennessee is currently in the lead and if you follow him on Twitter, it definitely shows. Although with mastermind Matt Dudek at the head of the recruiting table, it’s not crazy to think that we could see Mackenzie wearing a bucket hat in Tucson this fall.
