Only four of the top 25 recruits in the 2015 class have committed, Arizona now has two. 5-star recruit Ray Smith, ranked as the #3 small forward and #13 player overall, committed to Arizona via Twitter. Smith has been one of the top recruits on the rise, holding offers from Georgetown, Louisville, UCLA and UNLV. Arizona now holds the #3 recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports.

Coming in at 6-7 185 pounds, Ray Smith has a natural instinct to get to the basket with his tremendous size and athleticism. With a strong offensive game and great vision, in addition to his length on defense, Smith an extremely high ceiling going forward. Smith’s skill set will allow him to find success anywhere on the floor in Sean Miller’s system, as he should be an immediate impact player upon his arrival. Ray Smith is hungry and he wants his cookies, as seen in his highlights below.
Unfortunately, Smith suffered an ACL tear in his left knee three days ago at the Adidas Unrivaled Camp, which will sideline him for his senior season at Las Vegas High School (Las Vegas, NV). Sean Miller still honored his scholarship offer and we’re hoping for a full and speedy recovery for Ray Smith.
Arizona is currently the only program in the country with two 5-star commitments and there are still a handful of recruits that are at the top of the board for Sean Miller. Many scouts believe that the #2 recruit in the country, center Ivan Rabb and #7 recruit, center Stephen Zimmerman, have Arizona at the top of their lists. Arizona is also in very strong contention for the #1 point guard in the country, Isaiah Briscoe, as well as the #3 shooting guard, Allonzo Trier. With 5-star shooting guard Justin Simon and now 5-star forward Ray Smith committed, expect Sean Miller to compete for the #1 recruiting class of 2015.
