The Arizona Basketball team has another transfer in the program, senior-to-be Elliott Pitts, has decided to play elsewhere.

Perhaps in a not-so-surprising move, Elliott Pitts, the senior-to-be from De La Salle High School in California, has decided to transfer from the University of Arizona.

Pitts’ 2015-16 season was marred by mystery. He missed a majority of the season ‘due to personal issues,’ yet there was little to no accessible information regarding his status, and to make it all the more bizarre, head coach Sean Miller was pretty hushed about the situation as well.

A statement was made by Miller officially on Tuesday, “Elliott Pitts has informed the athletics department that he intends to transfer from the University of Arizona for the upcoming school year to continue his education. We wish him well in the future.”

More from Zona Zealots

“I wish I could comment more. He’s someone we miss a great deal and a terrific kid, but his situation has not changed.” – Miller

In the past, Miller had said: “I wish I could comment more. He’s someone we miss a great deal and a terrific kid, but his situation has not changed.” — Sean Miller, Jan. 12, 2016

Recent roster moves by Miller and the Wildcats only seemed to hint that a possible transfer would happen. Unfortunately, it is the nature of college basketball these days, and Arizona is certainly no stranger to it, as this is their second player to transfer from the program in the past few months.

As you may recall, freshman Justin Simon announced he would be leaving Arizona. Miller has certainly done a bit of work in again filling out his roster. A myriad of transfers and late roster additions have helped bolster the Wildcats’ already stellar recruiting class.

Pitts came in as a sharp-shooting athlete out of high school. Unfortunately, he never was able to develop into a consistent role with the Wildcats and had a tough time finding that coveted shooting stroke he was notoriously known for.

Pitts will certainly be missed, and his experience and veteran leadership could have proved to be very valuable for the Wildcats next season. BearDown, Elliott, and good luck!
