The Cowboys’ Dinosaur proved not to be the best of luck for the Oklahoma State Baseball team, as the Arizona Baseball team beat them up winning 9-3 and then 5-1 to move on to the FINALS!

The Arizona Baseball team, clad in Red tops and pinstriped bottoms, dismantled the pitching of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. So much for making fun of the Wildcats’ pitchers pants and how they wear them, it works!

Arizona’s head coach Jay Johnson has been catching heat from the likes of Keith Law on playing his pitchers too much, he has only played five pitchers in the tournament. That said, in Arizona’s 2012, Championship season, the Wildcats also used just five pitchers during the College World Series.

Announcers were certain that Hatch would put the Arizona bats to sleep early. Senior editor for Wildcat Authority, Jason Scheer also agreed. After all, the man had not let up a run in the last 25 2/3 innings he pitched, that is until he faced the Wildcats.

The Wildcats cruised to a 5-1 win, using an aggressive approach from the beginning, and jumping all over the seemingly untouchable Hatch. His streak finally came to an end, as Arizona’s continued, winning their sixth straight elimination game!

At the College World Series, the Cats lost their first tournament game to Oklahoma State 1-0 on Monday, sending them to the losers bracket to face the UCSB Gaucho’s, another cinderella team in Omaha. The Wildcats eliminated the Gaucho’s beating them 3-0, ending an amazing run for the Southern California team.

The momentum started for the Cats in the first inning and they scored all their runs by the fourth inning leading the Cowboys 5-1. Oklahoma State coach Josh Holliday finally pulled Tomas Hatch in the third inning, putting in Trey Cobb to finish the inning.

Bobby Dalbec, the player of the game, pitched seven tremendous innings, allowing just four hits, one earned run, walking two, and fanning six OSU batters. He’s given up only two runs in his last 15 innings pitched.

Kevin Ginkel pitched through 2/3 of the ninth inning after pitching a scoreless 8th, and striking out two batters. Coach Johnson chose to move freshman Alfonso Rivas III from the outfield to pitch against the last batter. Rivas stepped up to bang the last nail in the coffin, and he did it with a strikeout. This was his first appearance in the Series, he hadn’t pitched since the beginning of June.

The Cowboys pulled out Andrew Rosa to pinch-hit, hoping to start a rally, OSU would also use a pinch runner. The Rally started with one out, getting two men on base, but after a fly out advanced both runners 90 feet, Rivas stepped up to the pitchers mound, closing the door on any potential threat. Cats Won!

The offense was spectacular, but the defense was just as great. Cody Ramer was on the ball, literally hitting and catching everything. Check out this web gem worthy catch:

Zach Gibbons connected earlier in the game for his 100th hit (and the dugout stopped the game for the ball) in the first of the two elimination games played against the Cowboys. After this game, he is up to 103 hits for the season which ties him for sixth-most in school history.

Louis Boyd hit a double down the first base line followed by another drink of hot coffee.

According to Rob Anderson SID for Creighton, ‘Arizona had five doubles in its first four games (127 AB) before today in the #CWS. Today it has four two-baggers in eight official AB.’
