It has been four years since the football team last unveiled new uniforms, now it is time for a new, fresh look just ahead of the 2017 season.

A small part in the college football arms race, the Arizona Wildcats updated their wardrobe just ahead of the 2017 season. Tuesday morning, the team announced via social media that the unveiling of the new uniforms would happen later this afternoon.

Senior-to-be Jacob Alsadek certainly gave us some theatrics, insinuating out with the old (including the helmet), and soon to be in with the new.

After a bit of anticipation, the football team finally unveiled their new uniforms…

Gone are the ‘gradient sleeves,’ but they still seem to be subtle on the sleeves of the red and blue jerseys. My first reaction? Eh.

I for one was not a particular fan of the previous uniforms, am glad to finally have something else, but to me, it’s really not that of an improvement great.

Rumors were that the uniforms have been ready for some time, but the school and program have been waiting for the go-ahead from Nike to finally unveil them.

As promised, the team released them this afternoon via social media, and naturally, fans reacted.

Some loved ’em:

And plenty expressed their disgust:

I for one am not a fan of these uniforms. I think Nike and our marketing team dropped the ball. If we had learned anything these past few years, it’s that gradient is not a fan favorite, but somehow they still appear on the blue and red jerseys.

The numbers look tacky (no outline either), the pants are boring with no design, and about the only thing they got right were the blue helmets. If I had the opportunity to have any say in the design, I’d personally use these as a reference for a starting point.

We’ve definitely come a long way, and our look had changed from when we first started wearing Red and Blue. Here is a slideshow of the Arizona Football Uniforms over the years

At Zona Zealots, I am certainly not a big fan of the new uniforms, but that’s just my opinion. We can all agree the matte blue helmets are the best part. Agree, disagree? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook! Bear Down!
