We’re still a ways away from the start of the 2019 Arizona Football season, and with that said, the Wildcats are projected to win seven games.

We’re getting closer and closer to the Arizona Football season, and that makes us extremely excited! However, as we approach the 2019 season, that still makes us wonder just how the Wildcats will perform this year.

For those that unfortunately remember, 2018 did not go the way many had hoped or wanted. Arizona stumbled out of the gates to a 1-2 start, and never seemingly recovered, en route to a 5-7 season.

To top that off, the Wildcats blew a 19-point in the fourth quarter against their rival ASU in the final game of the season, officially knocking Arizona out from bowl contention.

Well, it’s now year two under head coach Kevin Sumlin, the Wildcats return a myriad of talented players, and the expectations to win and become bowl eligible are still there. So I guess the important question is, is just how will Arizona perform this year?

We did seem to cover this not long ago, where we highlighted Arizona’s strengths, as well as their opponents. I do think with the talent the Wildcats have returning, plus the schedule they will play in 2019, Arizona should be in a position to win and remain competitive so long as they stay healthy.

However, I must admit I am an avid fan and my perceptions may be a bit biased at times. So what really matters, is knowing what the general perception is regarding Arizona, and what many college football pundits are thinking.

For those curious, according to Fan Duel, they predict that the Wildcats will win an estimated seven games this season!

Fair? I tend to think so. I think technically, Arizona’s schedule was much more favorable in 2018, than it is in 2019. Plus I can see improved play from USC, Oregon, Colorado and Stanford this season, all of which are away games.

To make things a bit more challenging to predict, we don’t know how competitive Hawaii or Texas Tech will be this year.

I do think Arizona has the potential to win six or seven games, with the expectation of making a bowl game. Khalil Tate is a senior, J.J. Taylor returns after a tremendous red shirt sophomore season, the defense returns eight of 11 defensive starters from that ASU game, and adds a healthy Jace Whittaker.

Here’s a little recap from the Football Spring Game. Perhaps a good preview of what’s to come!
