Live Blogging Arizona Wildcats vs Colorado Buffaloes

facebooktwitterreddit

As the second quarter begins, I am starting to live blog the Arizona Colorado game.  Away we go!

….

Denker is starting find his touch completing his late two passes

….

Touchdown Ka’Deem Carey! Straight up the middle with no one touching him. 14-10 Arizona

…..

Colorado gets a first down and then some on a bubble screen, thanks to poor tackling

…..

Another first down for Colorado on an 8 yard run.  This defense does not look up to the task.

….

First down Colorado on a roll out pass.  Great throw and catch.  Colorado on the 30.

Interception Arizona on what was designed to be a bubble screen.

….

Quick pass gets keeps Arizona’s momentum as they are now driving.  What a turn of events.  The Buffs didn’t look like they could be stopped, but a great play by Tra’Mayne Bondurant

….

TOUCHDOWN CAREY, his 3rd of the day.  He weaved in an out of the Buffs defense for a 30 yard touchdown run.

21-10

….

Game stats so far: Arizona has only had the ball for 5:34, compared to Colorado with 13.56…UA already has 100 yards on the ground, 71 credited to Carey…Denker is 4/5 for 68 yards, but has a fumble

….

I’m back. Just had to make myself a breakfast smoothie.  When I was away, it seems Colorado has begun matching down the field.  Bondurant is also getting looked at by the medical staff.

….

Marquis Flowers comes out of no where and gets a sack for a 5 yard loss.  He has NFL written all over him.

….

Colorado completes a throw on 3rd & 20 for about 25. Massive breakdown for Arizona’s defense.

….

Buffs call a timeout on the 12 yard line.  Arizona needs another hold or else Colorado will really believe they are good enough to play.

….

Colorado gets three on a run. 2nd & 9.

….

Arizona gets lucky (slightly).  Colorado’s RB had his helmet taken off, but ends up in the end zone.  Play is called back due to NCAA rules. 3rd and 1.  Now a delay of game. Back em’ up. 3 and 6.

….

Back corner throw is incomplete, but there are flags scattered in the EZ. PI on UA.  Buffs ball on the 2.

….

TD Colorado on the ground for Christian Powell. UA came with a blitz but wasn’t able to stop him. 21-17 Arizona.

It will be interesting later in the game how the time of possession affects Arizona’s D. They have been on the field 4+ times longer than the offense.

….

Arizona’s offense is all about the run and short dump passes. Now Carey goes for 21 yards and puts him over 100 AGAIN! He is the offense right now.

….

It’s amazing there is only 1:17 left in the half.  That’s what happens when there aren’t many incomplete throws….or just throws in general.

….

Scratch that throw statement.

Denker goes over the top to Dan Buckner for the TD.  Ball was under thrown, but Buffs D so surprised, Buckner still was able to catch it without any issue. 28-17, Arizona

….

Colorado get a holding penalty on the return, will have to go 91 yards fora TD.

….

Rich Rod is going aggressive by calling a TO. Going to make Colorado work pushed back near their end zone.

….

Never mind, the half is going to end without any drama.

Half time score: Arizona 28 Colorado 17

Carey leads the offense with 121 rushing yards and 3 TD’s.  Denker surprisingly solid, going 9/10 with 122 yards and a TD, and only the one turnover early.

See you all on the other side.

….

Sorry I’m late guys, my lunch took a little too long.

TouchDown BJ Denker on the scramble. That was set up by a 70+ yard run by Carey which puts him at 293 for the game. (UA single game record)

….

Arizona is now putting the hurt on the Buffs. It is now 49-17. I think you can put this game in the ‘Win’ column for UA.

Lets do an update on stats real quick.

Arizona has 475 total yards (140 passing, 335 rushing, 12 yard rush average)

Colorado has 287 total yards (131 passing, 158 rushing)

Carey is leading the way with 293 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns.

….

Score update throughout the Pac-12- ASU 14 USC 7…Stanford 14 Oregon State 7… National Update: TX A&M 14 Alabama 0

TD Buffs on a bruising run to the right side. 49-24

….

In a non game event note, it looks like the ZonaZoo is emptying out.

Carey just got another 6 yards. At 299

…..

Ka’Deem is stuck on 299 yards after being stuffed at the line on 2nd down. He should get one more possession to break his third century mark.  After that, Rich Rod then needs to sit him on the bench.

….

TouchDown Colorado, but there is a flag. This might be coming back.

….

Nope, not coming back. Just unsportsmanlike penalty on Buffs. 49-31.  All thoughts that this game might be over are suspect now.  Down to an 18 point game.

….

Denker on the option speeds down field for 18 yards

….

Ka’Deem Carey just busted another HUGE run of 64 yards and now has 363 yards of offense.  This kid is amazing.

….

Carey caps it off with a Superman leap into the end zone.  He now has 5 touchdowns in one game, an Arizona record.

….

366 rushing yards for Carey, a Pac-12 Single Game Record.  Now the question is if you let him go for 400.  I’m all for records, but don’t want him to be injured.

….

CU just won’t give up. They are no at the 6 yard line, poised to score again.  So much for defense in this game.

….

For those interested, Colorado has 36 minutes of possession, to Arizona’s 15 minutes.

….

Carey’s day is over.  What a game for the kid. 366 yards and sets Arizona and Pac-12 records.  Arizona is punting with 43 seconds left on the clock.   Game should end with Arizona winning 56-31 barring any defensive lapses.

….

And it is over. Arizona is bowl eligible at 6-4.  Our offense showed it could still move the ball, but Colorado is awful.  Defense really did not play well.  Needs to change some things up.

Congrats to Ka’Deem Carey on what should be a Pac-12 Player of the Week award.  He should also be awarded a ‘Helmet Sticker’ on ESPN later tonight.  This could also help him out with the Maxwell Award.

Hope you all had a great afternoon.  Be safe tonight and have a fun Homecoming weekend.
