As far as scoring goes ASU’s Aly Moon leads the way after recording a hat trick against Hawai’i Sunday night and ASU’s McKenzie Berryhill, CAL’s Lorin Ham, and UCLA’s Sam Mewis were the only other ladies to record more than one goal on the opening weekend and will look to build off successful opening weekends. The goalies were the story this weekend as some serious defense was being played by these teams. Colorado’s Kate Scheele, Stanford’s Jane Campbell, and UCLA’s Katelyn Rowland all recorded two shutouts this weekend, while, five other goaltenders also recorded one shutout.
Overall, a pretty successful opening weekend for the Pac-12 conference. Some teams still have to figure some things out, but for the most part there looks to be a solid 6-8 teams this season. Check back next Monday for a Week two recap with updated standings and statistics!
