Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams enjoyed winning weeks this past week. The men finished up their opening tournament of the season, on Monday, with the 2015 ITA Kickoff and then hosted their first dual match of the season on Saturday. The women just had one match this past week, on Saturday, at home.
The women welcomed the New Mexico State Aggies and completely dominated them. They won all six of the singles matches, without dropping a set, and won both sets in the two doubles matches to get the 7-0 win. With the win the 34th-ranked women are now 1-0 on this young season.
The men had three matches this past week and went 2-1. They started the week off by finishing the 2015 ITA Kickoff against #61 New Mexico and were able to pull the upset for their first win of the young 2015 season. They won the match 4-1. Later that same day, the Wildcats squared off against #41 Texas Tech and Arizona took them to overtime, but lost the doubles portion and could not pull off their second upset of the day. Texas Tech won 4-3. Arizona stayed in Tucson for a Saturday match against the UC Riverside Highlanders, at Tucson Country Club, and came away with the 5-2 victory. The men are now 2-5 on the season.
