Have you been out to the Arizona Sand Volleyball Courts? If you haven’t you are missing out on your Arizona Wildcats Sand Volleyball!

More from Wildcats Volleyball

I finally made it out to the sand last week for senior day and it’s getting hot out on the sand. This was my first experience in person with any volleyball and let me tell you, if you haven’t made it down to Beardown Beach you are missing out!

It was a lot of fun. you have multiple matches going on at once and it is all action. Unfortunately for me I found out about this squad at the end of their season but it’s something to look forward to for next season.

Unlike other sports you always have something going on and someone to be cheering for. The best part about was we beat our rivals from up north so that was just the icing on the cake for me as a sports fan. Oh and I think I forgot to say, admission was free too.

Arizona WIldcats Sand Volleyball defeated Arizona State by a final score of 4-1. So now I’ll try to let you get to know a little more about the squad and the rest of their season.

The Arizona Wildcats Sand Volleyball team is only in its 2nd season and is already making noise and competing on a national level. The Wildcats are ranked 10th according to the American Volleyball Coaches Poll.

After a 2nd place finish at the Pac-12 invitational, the Wildcats have now finished their regular season. With a final record of 18-3; ten more wins than their 2014 season. They also won every home match this season.

At the helm of the team as the schools first ever is Head Coach Steve Walker. Walker has had plenty of experience as a volleyball player and coach. He has been a part of Arizona Indoor Volleyball team on and off since back in 2003. Walker is now leaving his mark on the sand and has 2 duos selected for the 2015 AVCA Collegiate Sand Championships.

The first of the duos selected to the AVCA Championships is the duo of Madi Kingdon and Kaitlyn Leary. Kingdom is a 6 foot 1 inch senior from Phoenix, Arizona and Leary is a 6 foot red shirt senior from Parma, Ohio.

The team together has put up an overall record of 17-1 when playing together.

The other duo is Sophomore pair McKenna Witt and Madison Witt. The twin sister’s are from Glendale, Arizona and have put up an overall record of 22-4 this season. Thankfully for us both teams were placed into different pools for play.

The AVCA Collegiate Sand Championships are held May 1-3, in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

So be sure to check in on the girls playing in the championships this weekend, and most of all be sure you come out and support the Wildcats Sand Volleyball when their season kicks off next year!

Good luck to Madi, Kaitlyn, McKenna, and Madison! Can’t wait to see the girls BEARDOWN in Alabama! To the rest of the girls great season and cant wait to see whats ahead for next season!

BEARDOWN!!!
