Corner Back Sammy Morrison just became a freshman again, this time at the University of Arizona.

Before becoming a Freshman at Arizona, Samuel Morrison needed to graduate as a senior from Gonzaga College High School in Ashburn Virginia, and he recently did just that.

We have been enjoying Sammy on Twitter; we have a lot of fun with this positive, spiritual, upbeat young man who has enjoyed his four years in high school. Morrison signed his letter of intent in February last year; he has a great sense of humor. Gotta love the Wildcat colors and how he wears them.

You get a good feel for how happy and excited Sammy is to come to his parents alma mater, to his “Dream School” and he even sneaks in a ‘Bear Down’ in this interview:

According to ArizonaWildcats.com Sammy’s Gonzaga College HS Coach Randy Trivers explained what type of young man Sammy is, “Sammy is the complete package. He possesses the winning combination of talent, intellect, charisma, work ethic and positive attitude. Arizona will be a great platform for Sammy to shine as he positively impacts others around him.”

UA Coach David Lockwood explained what he is going to bring to the Wildcats football team, “Sammy is a good football player that has played both corner and safety in high school. He played more at safety because that’s where they needed him so he’ll be a guy that can provide skills and versatility playing at the corner position while also having a chance to play at the free safety spot.”

Sammy was born a Wildcat..by that I mean that his parents are former Wildcats. His father Darryl Morrison, from Phoenix Arizona, is a former University of Arizona cornerback and former NFL player as well (Washington Redskins, drafted 1993.) Dark played for Dick Tomey on Arizona’s “Desert Swarm” defense. His father and mother JoAnn have five children including Sammy’s older sister Faith Morrison, who a junior year at the University of Washington where she competes in Division 1 gymnastics.

Arizona football Coach Richard Rodriguez knew he wanted Morrison the day of his visit (via The Washington Post.)

"Following a four-hour visit, Morrison went to the office of Wildcats Coach Rich Rodriguez, who offered a scholarship to the defensive back on the spot. Though the gesture tugged on Morrison’s heartstrings, he said his father ensured that he considered all of his options before making a commitment. After weighing nearly 15 offers from the likes of Virginia, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech and Washington State, Morrison kept coming back to his first love, leading him to call the coaching staff and commit Tuesday."

“I think I can bring a high competitiveness to Arizona, which is something that spawned from my early days working out with my dad,” Morrison said. “I like to take pride in being a smart player, and I’m always working on my technique, and I feel like those things will continue to grow as I play in college.”

Sammy is definitely “Our Kinda Guy” as he was born a Wildcat!

Bear down Sammy! We look forward to sharing the joy of your college career with you!
