Lance Marell Briggs just retired from this NFL this year after all 12 seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Lance Briggs was drafted No. 63 by the Bears in the third round in the 2003 draft. He is originally from Elk Grove, California and is 35 years old.

The University of Arizona

  • Played 33 games as strong-side linebacker
  • Was named team’s Defensive MVP as a senior
  • Finished with 308 tackles (including 205 solo tackles), 10.5 sacks, 36 tackles for losses, three interceptions, ten passes deflected, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries

The Chicago Bears

  • He has started 137 of the 140 career games he’s played.
  • He became the first linebacker in NFL history to return an interception for a score in each of his first three campaigns.
  • Over the last nine seasons, he tied for the most interceptions returned for touchdowns of any linebacker in the NFL.
  • In 2011, he became the ninth player in franchise history to be voted to seven Pro Bowls; he is only the fourth linebacker in franchise history to be selected to seven consecutive Pro Bowls.
  • He has 1,286 career tackles—the third most in franchise history since 1971 when tackles were officially recorded for the first time; he led the team in tackles in 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2011 after finishing second in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010.
