Arizona Wildcats Basketball: Kobi Simmons Commits to Arizona!

Arizona Wildcats Basketball prospect Kobi Simmons made his selection Saturday, he decided to attend the University of Arizona.

As we highlighted earlier in the week, five-star 6’5” 170 lb. Guard Kobi Simmons (Alpharetta, GA), would be making his college selection between Arizona, Ohio State & Kentucky, and we felt the Wildcats had a good chance heading into the weekend.

Well, Wildcats fans, Saturday has come and gone, and Arizona has secured a commitment from the 18th ranked overall player in the Class of 2016.

Simmons will be joining Finnish big man Lauri Markkanen and will likely become another effective scoring option for the Wildcats next season.

Only hours after Simmons’ commitment to the Wildcats, he decided to start helping Sean Miller and staff to recruit more stars to the team to close out the 2016 class.

Simmons sights are set high on a fellow five-star, 6’4” 200-pound shooting guard Rawle Alkins (Raleigh, NC). Alkins recently had decided to add Arizona back to his long list of schools in contention for his services next year. He is ranked No. 15 in the ESPN Top 100.

The belief is Alkins will still be a tough get, but certainly Sean Miller has high hopes following the commitment and recruiting effort of Simmons.

Even more exciting, Kobi Simmons was just named a McDonald’s All-American today, and he was visited by some special folks.

Former Arizona Wildcats joined in celebrating Simmons commitment to become a Wildcat:

Sean Miller and Arizona have shown they want to continue to add the 2016 class and were host to Australian big man recruit Harry Froling this weekend as well. So, Wildcats fans, don’t get too comfortable with the current class. Remember Arizona is still recruiting this guy too…

BearDown Kobi!
