Arizona Baseball star, Bobby Dalbec has now officially signed with the Red Sox, after Boston had initially drafted him in the fourth round back in June.

More from Arizona Wildcats

Weeks after his immense amount of success during the College Baseball World Series, Arizona utility man Bobby Dalbec, has finally signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox. The big-hitting, hard-throwing right-hander who initially was drafted in the fourth round, officially signed his deal today.

Dalbec saw a successful season with the Wildcats this past year, especially during the teams’ dream-like playoff run. He was instrumental in Arizona’s success, and that success has come in the way of a payday, and a big one at that.

Arizona Baseball fans have been anxiously waiting for a couple of weeks now, for the MLB draft dust to settle. Dalbec was initially drafted, but had been waiting on a contract he was ‘okay’ with. He had expressed he would return for his senior if he didn’t like the contract being offered.

As it stands, his deal is worth $501,300, with a signing bonus of $650,000. He also joins a few Wildcats (current and future) to sign with major league teams that had drafted them.

Those players are;

JoJo Romero P (Yavapai Junior College Prescott, AZ)- 4th Round- Philadelphia Phillies

Samad Taylor INF (Corona HS Corona, CA)- 10th Round- Cleveland Indians

Zach Gibbons OF (Arizona)- 17th Round- Los Angeles Angels

Cody Ramer INF (Arizona) 19th Round- Los Angeles Angels

Kevin Ginkel P (Arizona) 22nd Round- Arizona Diamondbacks

Ryan Aguilar 1B (Arizona) 31st Round- Milwaukee Brewers

Nate Sweeney P/ INF (Cherry Creek HS Greenwood Village, CO)- 33rd Round- Chicago Cubs

While it’s sad to see so many Wildcats being drafted, we are certainly glad to see the Majors well represented with Wildcats.

At Zona Zealots, we want to congratulate Bobby on getting the opportunity to play in the Major Leagues. Bear Down, Bobby, and good luck!
