Arizona Basketball: Allonzo Trier is a beast on the court and lovable off the court
By David Rosen
Arizona Wildcats sophomore Allonzo Trier thanked his teammate and friend, Kadeem Allen, after the 77-72 loss to UCLA on Senior Night.
Wow, what a season for the Arizona Wildcats! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Arizona gets beat at home by rival UCLA on Senior Night. Something that should not be overlooked is the fact that Allonzo Trier showed class, it wasn’t lost on him the weight of the moment post-game. After a tough loss to the UCLA Bruins Saturday night, in which Trier led the team with 28 points, he paid respect to his teammate and friend, Kadeem Allen.
When the game was over, Trier embraced Allen and said “You’re alright, I love you” after Allen had missed a 3-point shot at the end to tie the game. Also, he also posted this heartwarming message to his teammate, leader and his friend on his Instagram account:

This powerful statement from Trier shows his gratitude and respect for Allen on Senior Night. It also goes to show that sometimes it’s more than just a game of basketball, it’s about the friendships that develop during the season.
Trier has been invaluable to the Wildcats winning season, especially these last three games; he’s averaged 25 points, four rebounds, 11-17 from 3pt range and made key plays whenever the Cats needed it the most.
His versatility on offense is what stands out the most; from taking it strong to the basket and his touch from 3pt range. Trier can do it all!
His performance this past week even got him on the NCAA.com-All Week team!
Trier’s has elevated his game and is great to see! He steps up when other players struggle and need a lift. Even though his team-high 28 points wasn’t enough against the Bruins, his leadership skills shined. Wildcats coach Sean Miller had this to say about Trier’s Saturday performance during a press conference:
"“We are truly seeing him enter his best phase. He had a great game, in a big game, big reason why he was in the game with a chance to win it with a chance to win."

Class. Leadership. Respect. These are all values that define who Trier are as an athlete and individual. Now that the regular season is almost wrapped up, the Pac-12 conference tournament around the corner, and then March Madness. We can only expect great things from No. 35, and we are hoping folks wake up and push him higher in the projected NBA Draft. Bear Down Zo!
