It’s National Super Hero day, what better way to celebrate than talking about our Arizona Wildcats.

Today was Super Hero Day in America, so the Zona Zealots staff decided to have some fun together and come up with some of our favorite Super Hero Arizona Wildcats and their Super Hero’s personas. Honestly, we thought of soooooo many we couldn’t cut off the list, but here are a few we hope you will enjoy.

T.J. McConnell – Iron Man

He has fun but also takes care of business.

My Wildcat superhero would be TJ. McConnell because of how he loves the game of basketball, but at the same time plays with such focus and intensity it’s  awesome. Also, his vision on the court to make some of those highlight reel passes are incredible! – David Rosen

More from Arizona Wildcats

Damon Stoudamire – Mighty Mouse

Stoudamire was undersized and the smallest player on the floor a lot of times. But just when you underestimated him and counted him out, he came at you with force, strength, and speed, leaving you asking yourself, “what was that?” He never backed down, no matter the opponent.

He may have been small, but he could pack a punch. Now he is a NCAA Basketball coach! – Mark Barrera

Gilbert Arenas  – Rorschach (Watchmen)

Fairly underrated as a basketball player out of high school, like Rorschach who is an underrated superhero. A bit rough around the edges, complex, a loose cannon at times, a bit like Arenas.

Regardless of what you think of him as a player or his antics, he’s a fantastic basketball player that had a career cut short due to injury.

Also, I love the story of Lute Olson recruiting Arenas, and Gilbert was losing focus in the meeting with coach Olson, and Lute took off his championship ring and slapped it on the table in front of Gilbert. That got his attention! – Eric Townsend

Ricky Hunley – The Hulk

Hulk was a very smart doctor Robert Banner usually, but when he got angry he turned into the Hulk, only his girlfriend Betty Ross could calm him down.

Ricky is a gentle giant off the field but became a fierce force of a football player to reckon with on the field. Plus his play was incredible. On top of that, he is funny as hell, a protector, and fiercely loyal to his team, his coach, his family, and friends. – Eric Townsend and Shereen Rayan

Chuck Cecil – Batman

Fast!

Chuck for his 106-yard interception TD against ASU and he wasn’t highly recruited, just a regular guy. – Peggy McClain

Taryne Mowatt – Wonder Woman

Taryn because at the start of the CWS they were saying the challenge would be that we didn’t have a backup and there were just too many games for one pitcher to pitch them all. I believe we lost the first game and came through the losers bracket and won the whole thing. – Peggy McClain

Kenny Lofton – Flash

One of the fastest guys to play on the hardwood who made his presence known in the Major Leagues as one of the game’s best base runners. If you gave him a lead, he’d take it and make you pay. – Eric Townsend

Sean Miller – Superman

Arizona Basketball Head Coach Sean Miller is my Wildcats Super Hero today.  Miller has some special power that attracts top high school recruits to his program. He wins 77 percent of the time, and he battles against that evil Sun Devil head coach Bobby Hurley.

His hair is properly combed into place, he has that nicely clean-shaven face, and he has mad dribbling skills.

“I’m here to fight for truth, and justice, and the American way.” Miller made sure the Pac-12 felt his wrath after they charged him for saying, “He touched the ball,” $25,000. Miller was right in the end; the head referee was eventually let go for directing or offering free vacations for refs who could T up Miller or get him ejected.

Time outs and suit jackets I feel are his kryptonite. – Shereen Rayan
