The latest social media craze, Drive By Dunk Challenge, has everyone getting involved including current and former Arizona Basketball players.
Social media challenges and memes seem to be constantly changing, just like technology. Within the last five years, there was the ALS ice bucket challenge, the Harlem shake, planking and the Running Man challenge just to name a few. A now a new challenge has evolved: The Drive By Dunk Challenge.
The challenge involves driving by a house that has a basket and dunking a basketball – hence the name “Drive by Dunk Challenge.”

It started on July 18th by an individual on Instagram named t.currie who felt the need to show off his dunking talents on a random home’s driveway hoop. So he picked a few homes and while a buddy filmed him, he parked the car ran up to the house with the hoop and dunked his basketball. The Bleacher Report soon picked it up and before you know it, all social media outlets (especially Twitter), went crazy.
A key element to this challenge is to try not to be caught by the homeowner or homeowner’s dog while making sure to take the ball back to the car after the dunk has been made. In some videos, the person will just leave their ball, so they don’t get caught.
Driveways, sides of buildings and outdoor basketball courts are some of the places these dunks are happening.
There have been some funny and creative ones so far. Class of 2018 Wildcat commit Shareef O’Neal got involved with assistance from his brother Shaqir and others showing off his POSTERIZATION skills as well, and he found a sweet court too:
O’Neal wasn’t the only Wildcat to get involved. Former Wildcat and NBA star Gilbert Arenas showed off his driving skills in this one:
There may be more Wildcat drive by dunk challenges happening soon:

It seems as if everyone is taking part – so why not?! Some of the other popular ones have included a Bloomington police officer, Coach Calipari, Anthony Davis and Jaylen Brown:

Even Charles Barkley had this one. Maybe he is going to dunk a donut!
You gotta think that if Tusconans put out their hoops, knowing some current Wildcats may come out and dunk on their hoop, what fun that would be.
