When you follow Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on social media, all you can do is smile at his posts. He just loves life. He loves to dunk too.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and a bunch of his fellow NBA stars went to Africa for a myriad of reasons. The main purpose was supposed to be the NBA Africa Game 2017, but there was plenty more experiences to be had by all. The game was played in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Ticketpro Dome.

This is not the first time this exhibition game has taken place, the first game was in 2015. The game is played under the Basketball Without Border’s (BWB) organization and supports the following causes:

  1. UNICEF
  2. The Nelson Mandela Foundation
  3. SOS Children’s Villages South Africa (SOSCVSA)

The actual game is played between two teams, Team World (Non-African NBA Players) led by team captains Kemba Walker and Dirk Nowitzki. Team world includes DeMarcus Cousins, Wilson Chandler, Rondae, Jaylen Brown, Kyle Lowry and CJ McCollum. And Team Africa led by team captains Luol Deng and Thabo Sefolosha, also NBA Players who are first and second generation Africans. Also on Team Africa were Joel Embiid, Serge Ibaka, Luc Mbah a Moute, Salah Mejri, Emmanuel Mudiay and Victor Oladipo.

Other than Rondae’s seven exciting points, the NBA described the following leaders:

"Jaylen Brown scored 15 points, Kristaps Porzingis and Andre Drummond each added 14 points and Team World defeated Team Africa 108-97 in the 2017 NBA Africa Game. Victor Oladipo scored 28 points for Team Africa and was named the game’s most valuable player."

The game was a fun one, but that’s not all these players went to Africa to do!

Rondae has been sharing his journey with us and showing us just how much he is enjoying himself, even charity work. They visited a Mandela exhibit where they learn about apartheid. They played with a lot of kids, danced with them, and taught them basketball. They built a house too!

They also played a game of H-O-R-S-E, and practiced for an exhibition game where Hollis-Jefferson displayed his dunking prowess.

As usual, we will catch you up on Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and continue to enjoy watching his social media updates. We think this is the year both he and Stanley Johnson come into their own in the NBA.
