Following the firing of Rich Rodriguez, rumors are already circulating, with former LSU coach Les Miles’ name emerging.
Hang on to your seats folks, this should be an interesting few days or weeks for Arizona Football. With social media buzzing with replacement names, Les Miles’ name emerges.
The former LSU head coach guided the Tigers to a 114-34 record and two National Championship appearances in just over eleven seasons in Baton Rouge. The same coach dubbed the ‘Mad Hatter’ is supposedly interested in life in the Southwest.
News broke via social media from Neal McCready when he put out an article, stating that there is mutual interest from both parties.

Miles would be an interesting choice, for a lot of reasons! The coach has been out of the coaching scene for a year, but apparently is ready to get back
For starters, Miles is 64 years old. He is a bit on the older side, and you would certainly have to question just how much does he have left in the tank. Arizona needs a bit of an injection in the program, and could an older Miles be that answer?
Additionally he has no ties to the Southwest. The furthest West Miles has coached is Colorado, and that was over 30 years ago as an offensive line coach.
The Wildcats will need someone who can recruit at a high level, and while Miles has done that at LSU, a far easier destination to sell than Tucson, could he overcome no recruiting ties out West?
Lastly, there are a lot of questions regarding his ability to coach offense. Arizona has one of the most exciting and electric players in Khalil Tate, would Miles be able to effectively utilize the offensive weapons Rich Rodriguez is leaving behind?
Overall, he could be a solid fit, but may not necessarily be a long term option. He does have some questions, but he does have the pedigree. The guy has won a lot games, doing it primarily with defense, something the Wildcats could use moving forward.
Plus, maybe Miles could be a stop gap? Someone to help a younger coach along, to eventually become his replacement.
