Arizona Athletics introduces their new head football coach Kevin Sumlin, and the excitement is not only building it is raging.
Today was the day that the University of Arizona president Robert Robbins and Athletic Director Dave Heeke introduced their big catch or big cat new head Arizona Football coach Kevin Sumlin.
Sumlin got his team out of bed early this morning for a 7:15 am meeting in the football facilities. He told the team that he wants to build trust between them and that he is keeping Marcel Yates on board as Defensive Coordinator. We heard that the entire team of defensive coaches were on hand for his pep talk but cannot confirm.

Arizona Wildcats Football
UCLA introduced Chip Kelly with pomp and circumstance. They brought out the food and balloons and let the media know they were about to party hard to celebrate their new coach. ASU had their own fanfare along with the press conference to introduce their head coach (?? is that what he is??), Herm Edwards. Herm took to the mic like a preacher at church and stirred up the room and made a ton of promises to everyone. The funny thing is, their fans did not buy the sermon and are now pretty jealous that Arizona landed the coach of their dreams.
Arizona SID Jeremy Sharp held their presser in a different room than press conferences with the football coaches are normally held. There were comfy seats that weren’t all filled, but there were plenty of other people standing and sitting on the outside listening in.
There was not much fanfare, not much pomp and circumstance, there were two of the best football helmets on the table that the team has gotten to wear in recent years and there was the big cat sitting in the middle. Kevin Sumlin sat between Heeke and Robbins and had a big smile on his face. That is until he got his first question from Daily Wildcat student Saul Bookman.
First question: @Saul_Bookman - What's the significance of being the first black head coach at Arizona.

Sumlin: This is my third time being the first black head coach at (a university) and this is the 3rd time I've gotten that question.
We got a good taste of where not to go with coach Sumlin, do not bring up race, mostly because he felt that if you had to bring it up, then we haven’t gotten past it.
Heeke said that Sumlin checked all the boxes for the criteria for his search for the next coach:
