No. 3 Matt Brase (NBA G-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers)

The No. 3 on my list is a guy that wouldn’t be the first on many fans minds, because his name may not be that recognizable, but he might just be the perfect candidate for the job. Brase is related to and played for Lute Olson (he’s his grandson).

Brase knows Arizona Basketball about as well as anyone.

Brase played at Arizona from 2003-2005 and helped the team to an Elite Eight appearance in 2005. He served various roles with the basketball team and even became an assistant coach in 2009. With Brase as an assistant, the team made the Sweet 16. Brase also coached at Grand Canyon University from 2009-2011, so he has college experience.

Brase was the Director of Operations for the Houston Rockets from 2013-2015. In 2015 he took on the head coaching job of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA G-League and has achieved a ton of success already. He made it to the G-league Finals just last year before losing in the third game of the series.

With Brase, you kill two birds with one stone. You would satisfy the old fans and also excite new fans. Brase is a wildcard for this job that needs to get a serious look if Miller is leaves.
