Catching up with former Arizona Football tight end Blair Tushaus.

Being part of Wildcat nation is family for life. Just like some family members, we may not see or hear from them as life takes us in all different directions. Lucky enough, former Arizona Football tight end Blair Tushaus was able to sit down with us and answer a few questions about his past and present.

Tushaus ended his college football career in Tucson but started at BYU as a tight end. He found the BYU college life wasn’t for him, so he decided to attend ASU. He would eventually find himself playing for rival ASU as a walk-on, but the coaches wanted him to gain weight and play center, something he didn’t want to do. He eventually found his way down South to the UofA through his relationship with then Wildcats TE Coach Charlie Ragle, and after walking on one last time, he ended his career as a Wildcat.

ZZ: Where did you go to high school? And what was your favorite memory?

BT: I went to Notre Dame Prep [in Scottsdale, Arizona] and in the graduating class of 2010. My favorite high school memory there was being a part of 2 State Championship football teams and also a men’s track State Championship as well. ZZ:

ZZ: Did you have a pregame ritual before taking the field?

BT: I was a very ritual person when it came to pregame. Even the day before I made sure I had all my essential necessities before we packed up to the hotel (or to the airport for away games). The day of the game there is several meals, meetings, and walk-throughs before we actually head to the stadium which involved a certain routine. Right before the game, I wrote down certain things on my wrist tape, and I made sure to always say a prayer.

ZZ:  What’s your favorite place to eat in Tucson?

BT: The first day in Tucson I got a Sonoran dog at El Guero Canelo. Whenever I go back, I make sure to stop there.

ZZ: Favorite memory while playing at the University of Arizona?

BT: What is your favorite memory was by far beating #2 Oregon and Marcus Marriotta at Oregon.

ZZ: What advice you would give an incoming freshman playing football at Arizona?

BT: The advice I would give an incoming freshman is to go into the program ready to work. Be a team player who’s willing to help the team. No one wants to hear how great you are. Instead, they want to see how hard you’re going to work.

ZZ: What is your favorite memory of the Zona Zoo or Arizona fans during/after the game?

BT: We beat Cal on a Hail Mary at the end of the game, and I remember the ZonaZoo was rocking after that had happened. The fans were amazing to us win or lose, and I was appreciative of their support.

ZZ: What are you doing now?

BT: Now I am in pursuit of applying to Physician Assistant school. I will be applying to several schools this summer.
