One of the greatest Arizona Wildcat softball players, Jennie Finch, is taking her skills to the dance floor in Dancing with the Stars, Athletes Edition.

All-American, National Champion, Olympian, and now the title of Dancing with the Stars dancer can be added to Jennie Finch’s already impressive resume. Considered by many to be one the greatest softball players, Finch, is in the spotlight again as she takes part in a very special 4-week edition of Dancing with the Stars, Athletes Edition.

She had her work cut out for her during the first week of competition. There were nine other athletes made up of highly talented athletes in their respective sports, including several current and former Olympians: Tanya Harding, Adam Rippon, Arike Ogunbowale, Chris Mazdzer, Jamie Anderson, Johnny Damon, Josh Norman, Mirai Nagasu. This list also included Kareem Abdul- Jabbar, who for a big man knows how to move and found a way to survive elimination.

More from Arizona Wildcats

Finch and her partner Motsepe, who call themselves Team Pitch Perfect, will be looking to “strike out” the competition all the way to the finals. See what I did there.

This first week of competition Finch and Motsepe danced to “All-American Girl” by Carrie Underwood. As a softball player, Finch dominated the mound with her precision and speed. On the dance floor, she did the same as everything seemed to be on point and very natural. They ended up a score a 21 out of 30 points.

From beginning to end, Finch didn’t miss a beat and seemed to be very free-flowing, showing no signs of nerves. She even included her kids at the end of the performance – what a great touch!

With the help of Wildcats from all over, Finch moved onto the second week of the event. Two athletes though weren’t so lucky and were eliminated: Damon and Anderson. Even though Abdul-Jabbar had the lowest score of the night with a 17, because of the number of votes, combined with the judges’ scores he didn’t get eliminated.

Former Arizona Wildcat softball great Leah O’Brien showed her support for her fellow Wildcat:

Make sure to make your voice heard for next week to keep Jennie in the competition and vote. Dancing with the Stars, Athletes Edition is on Mondays at 8pm EST. Let’s show the rest of the country and ABC what happens when we “bear down” for our player!
