Arizona Football: Quarterback Khalil Tate Leading the PAC

Arizona Football junior quarterback Khalil Tate is among the best QB’s in the Pac-12 heading into the 2018 season.

Flashback to the Colorado game when the Wildcats were reaching a desperation point in their season. Starting quarterback Brandon Dawkins suffered an injury in the opening drive of the game a mile above sea level. Then entered a quarterback by the name of Khalil Tate who a lot of fans had begged Coach Rich Rodriguez to play. Tate shocked the defense and broke an NCAA College record by picking up 327 rushing yards along 154 passing yards. Not to mention leading five touchdown drives.

With Dawkins following quarterback coach Rod Smith to the University of Indiana as a post-grad transfer, Tate is the starting quarterback and man he is getting a lot of buzz going into his junior season. Khalil Tate is on the verge of being among the top quarterback in the PAC 12 and is a front-runner for winning the Trophy Heisman next season.

According to Brian Fischer of Athlon Sports, Khalil is the best quarterback in the Pac-12. They are looking for him to build upon a season in which he posted 3,002 total yard along with accumulating 26 overall scores. Athlon’s Steven Lassen published his 2018 All-Pac-12 team which included Tate as his All-First Team QB.

Khalil is not only getting noticed as one of the best QB’s in the Pac-12, but he has reached national status. ESPN ranked him the No. 7 player to watch come next season. Rushing for a total of 1,411 yards last season, Khalil will look to use his size and speed to dominate Defenses yet again in 2018.

With all the accolades and excitement surrounding Khalil Tate’s upcoming season, it is safe to say that Wildcat football fans have been put on “Heisman Watch.” Behind a new head coach in Kevin Sumlin along with some other key returning players, this years team looks to pull out a stellar season.

Tate was recently interviewed by Wildcat Authority who asked him for one personal goal next season. His response was to go undefeated next season. If his goal is reached, Arizona will punch their ticket to the Rose Bowl. Now that would be a storybook season for the ages Wildcat fans!
