Arizona Basketball: Kadeem Allen signs with the New York Knicks
By Jordan Cuda
From Tucson to Boston to New York, Kadeem Allen signs a contract with the New York Knicks.
There are few NBA arenas that all players look forward to play in. Key arena’s being Los Angeles, Boston, and always the Madison Square Garden in New York City. There is no doubt that the lights shine a little brighter in those cities due to the rich history that lives inside each of those markets.
History and tradition do not seem to scare Kadeem Allen as he recently signed a contract with the New York Knicks. Allen will join former teammate Alonzo Trier who just signed a two-way contract with the same organization. Allen likely signed a Training Camp deal to try to make the Knicks Roster.

While at the University of Arizona, Kadeem Allen made a name for himself due to the heart and passion that he showed on the court. Coach Sean Miller always praised Kadeem for the pride that he showed on the defensive end of the floor.
Kadeem finished off his career at the U of A averaging nine points, three rebound and three assists a game. What doesn’t show on the stat sheet is the type of leader that Kadeem was throughout his time as a Wildcat.
No doubt Kadeem had the love and passion for the game of basketball along with the skills that could be an essential asset for any NBA team. When the 2017 NBA draft rolled around, he got selected as the 53rd pick in the second round by the Boston Celtics.
While in Boston, playing time was hard to come by as the Celtics had a roster loaded with guards and forwards with players such as Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum and Terry Rozier. The playing time Kadeem did see as a Celtic, he sure made his presence felt on the defensive end as he locked down others teams perimeter players.
As the page turned to another NBA offseason, the front office of the Boston Celtics had to make a tough decision and release Kadeem Allen making him a free agent.
It didn’t take long before Kadeem found a new home in New York with Knicks. Where the opportunity of getting more playing time is something that was just too hard to pass up on. Along with the idea of teaming up again with former Wildcat Allonzo Trier where the chemistry will be easy to come by. Also, who knows maybe even getting a chance to high five Spike Lee as he runs down to the other side of the court.
With both Kadeem Allen and Allonzo Trier with New York Knicks this is setting up a match with their Eastern Conference rivals the Chicago Bulls. As former Wildcats, Lauri Markkenan and Rawle Alkins await them as another “WIldcat Showdown” is looming this upcoming NBA season. There is no doubt that this will be must-watch TV for Wildcat Nation.
Allen is a winner, remember this? What you didn’t see was his deflection to win the game!
