A little bit of everything, we would love to know what you hadn’t or have heard about and your thoughts as the summer comes to a close.
These tidbits are in no certain order.
Khalil Tate hit the West Coast cover of Sports Illustrated’s College Football edition breaking a decades-long drought.
The newest Sports Illustrated’s College Football edition includes a spread in the middle of the magazine with quotes from his family. It’s a great story which includes in your quarterback’s desire to play the game of football, how he was raised, how he views his life and career and what he has accomplished in three seasons.
Note: Tate, the Big Cat, Big Man Tate (Sports Illustrated’s nickname) has not yet played a full season of football in Tucson. The world now awaits this 19-year-olds debut as starting quarterback for the 2018-19 season as a Heisman Trophy Candidate.
Arizona Daily Star’s Michael Lev reported that Darren Rovell (ESPN) Arizona Football could have capitalized on getting this attention by making Tate available for media and feels that was a mistake. But we would contend that Tate doesn’t like to talk about himself, it’s more about his team, so having his teammates talk about him is possibly endearing.
It’s been a long time since a Wildcat graced the SI Cover, 24 years to be exact (1994). In the same edition, SI ranks Arizona in the Top 20 at No. 19 and includes Washington at No. 4 and Stanford at No. 12. Which begs the question, what’s wrong with ESPN? Well, aside from that, Arizona is missing from ESPN’s Top 25. ESPN ranks Washington at No. 5, Stanford at No. 14, USC at No. 16, and Oregon at No. 23.
