Former Wildcat Reggie Gilbert Continues to Impress with Green Bay
Big things are happening for Reggie Gilbert, as the Former Wildcat continues to have an impressive pre-season with the Green Bay Packers!
It’s been a long journey for Former Wildcat Reggie Gilbert, originally going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, and ending up with the Green Bay Packers.
His first two NFL seasons have been a grind competing mostly with the Packers’ practice squad. Fast forward to last December, and Gilbert finally got the long awaited call-up.
The Laveen, Arizona native had the chance to play in the Packers’ final two games in their 7-9 playoff-less season. However, Gilbert making the most of his opportunity, gathered two tackles (both solo) and a sack, building some nice momentum in 2018.

Now months later, Gilbert is again showcasing his talent, and making a strong case to be on the Packers’ active, 53-man roster come the start of the 2018 season. For now, he has pre-season to get through.
Already making noise for his hard work, the former Wildcat has been impressive through his first two games. Against the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers, Gilbert has a combined five tackles (four solo) with four QB hits and two-and-a-half sacks.
Gilbert had a remarkable game against the Steelers, picking up this monstrous sack!
This comes as no surprise to us Arizona fans, who had the pleasure of watching Gilbert wreak havoc in opposing backfields while in Tucson. In his four years with the Wildcats, Gilbert had 144 tackles (90 solo), with 28 of them going for a loss and totaling 14 sacks according to Sports-Reference.
Now a linebacker in the NFL, Gilbert continues to do much of the same.
While it’s uncertain whether Gilbert gets a roster spot, nonetheless, he is making that strong case as we said, and making a lot of fans along the way! Just look at him here, as the Gilbert partook in the Green Bay tradition of riding a fans bike to practice.

Gilbert and the Packers have two games left this pre-season, before the official season starts. Green Bay will face Oakland this Friday, and then Kansas City on August 30. The former Wildcat has a great chance to continue to prove his worth and secure a roster spot with this team!
At Zona Zealots, we would like to wish Reggie the best as he continues his pre-season tour and hope he can be on that team come September! Bear Down Reggie, and Bear Down, Arizona!
