Arizona Football: New Rules for the 2018 Season

College football will have some new rules for 2018. The NCAA has been looking to make the game safer, and new rules will continue until they feel it’s safe.
We have all seen NFL rule changes and how confusing it has been for fans and the media to announce the pre-season games. So to help you not scream at your TV we thought we would run down the rule changes. Also, we will all now have a source post to refer too to get more insight into what, at least, should have been called on the field.
Targeting, kickoffs pushed back, defenseless receiver. These are all areas where the NCAA has made steps to make college football safer. Whether you like them or not, the changes are here to stay.
One thing people don’t understand is how rule changes work with even and odd years. According to the National Football Foundation, under current NCAA guidelines, player safety rules can only be changed in odd-numbered years. Since 2018 is an even year, it allows the NCAA football committee to consider changes for all aspects of the game.
