The Arizona Football hype seems to have officially caught on in Tucson as season ticket sales spike just ahead of the 2018 campaign.

It’s a ‘New Era’ of Arizona Football, and there is a special feeling that is running through the veins of Arizona fans right now. Gone momentarily is that longing wish for basketball even in the midst of the football season!

It is the boys of fall that have caught the eye of many Wildcats fans in Tucson, as the 2018 season is about to kick off under newly hired head coach, Kevin Sumlin. Expectations are soaring and so are tickets sales?

Yes, you read that right!. Coach Sumlin and his players are not the only ones who were keeping busy during the dog days of summer. The lovely people who work tickets sales also had their hands full as the phones were ringing off the hook, enticing Wildcat fans to get their hands on tickets to this years’ football games.

So just how busy was the Arizona Athletics ticket office? Well, so far, there has nearly been 6,000 new season ticket orders that have been placed.

That is the highest number of season tickets sold since the 2010 season. Why is that you ask? Well, there are perhaps a few reasons as to why ticket sales have seen such a dramatic uptick this year.

The first reason, is that Sumlin and his staff have increased the amount of marketing done both in Tucson and in the ‘Valley’ area including Tempe. From downtown trollies being plastered with Arizona Football on the side of them, to billboards that make it very clear that Arizona football is ready for a ‘New Era’.

The next reason, is none other than the highly regarded and electric quarterback, Khalil Tate. Going from riding the bench to being on the cover of Sports Illustrated, he has burst onto the college football scene.

Now just a 19-year-old junior, Tate took last season by storm, after only getting spot minutes in garbage time, and heads into 2018 as a potential Heisman candidate. There is no doubt that Tate has that “WOW Factor” and can take over a game at anytime.

I can’t help but imagine with his presence in the Arizona backfield is proving to be worthy of that price of admission! After all, perhaps our ‘Mr. October’, will be more like ‘Mr. 2018’!

Lastly, our beloved Athletic Director Dave Heeke has not forgotten about “YOU”, the fans. He understands that without the Wildcat faithful, none of this would be possible. Heeke has made changes inside Arizona Stadium to enhance the fan experience. Implementing alcohol sales, updating the Zona Zoo and not to mention the variation in new food items such as Tucson’s own  Eegee’s.
