After a rough start to the season, the Arizona Soccer team has been on fire since, now winners of six straight games including another weekend sweep.

It feels good to win, and right now the Arizona Soccer is feeling it. As you may recall, the Wildcats dropped their first game of the season, losing 1-0 to Albany, but has since rebounded nicely!

The loss would sting, but would propel the Wildcats into quite the impressive winning streak. First it was UC Irvine and Houston Baptist, then it was Southeast Missouri State and New Hampshire over a week ago.

However, this past weekend would provide an even bigger test for the Wildcats, as they would face better competition in Boise State and Baylor at home.

Arizona took to the pitch on Friday against the Broncos and put together a solid performance. From the start, Arizona had great intensity, putting a few good shots on goal, but just missing.

Finally, in the 40th minute, a breakthrough! Sophomore forward Jill Aguilera would connect on a nice cross to freshman forward Brooke Wilson, who would find the back of the net! Arizona would lead 1-0 just before the half!

Entering the second half, the Wildcats would continue the pressure. Not finding much doing in the first 30-plus minutes of the second half, Arizona would put this thing away for good in the 80th minute when would junior forward Taryn Siegele would take a perfect set ball that found net to make it 2-0, Arizona!

The Wildcats would cruise to the 2-0 win, as goalkeeper Lainey Burdett would earn her fifth-straight shut out!

Sunday would provide another tough challenge for Arizona as the Wildcats took on the Bears at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium. This one would also be a fantastic match-up between both squads.

Arizona would strike first once again, this time scoring in the 30th minute when freshman Emily Knous took some well-placed passes to eventually put one past the keeper to make it 1-0, Arizona!

Not much else would happen in the first half here, as the Wildcats had the one goal halftime lead.

Baylor would respond quickly in the second half, equalizing the game at 1-1 in the 48th minute, breaking up Burdett’s scoreless streak. Luckily, the Wildcats would find an answer to Baylor and quickly, as Knous once again found net for the second time in the game and putting Arizona up for good in this one!

The scoring however, wouldn’t end there! Ten minutes later, freshman defender Hallie Pearson would get in on the action, taking a corner kick that found the back of the net to make it 3-1 and essentially securing the victory!

Wildcats would pace themselves to the 3-1 win, improving to 6-1 on the season!

The win is the Wildcats’ sixth straight, and is their longest winning streak since 2004, when the Cats won a program best, nine straight games!

Arizona will return to action on Friday against Cal State Fullerton to cap off their out of conference slate, before starting their Pac-12 conference schedule! Good luck to the Wildcats as they continue their 2018 season! Bear Down, Arizona!
