It’s been a long and tumultuous road for Ka’Deem Carey, but finally the former Wildcat is getting his chance to succeed again!

It’s been over four years since Ka’Deem Carey dominated the Arizona backfield, but the former Wildcat will once again have a chance to succeed in professional football.

If you may recall, Carey was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Tucson native went 117th overall, but never really had his time or chance to shine in the NFL.

From the get go, Carey wasn’t really put in the best situation to succeed. He was stuck behind former Pro Bowler Matt Forte from 2014-15, then his head coach Marc Trestman was fired after the 2014 season.

John Fox would become the new coach who would draft over Carey, picking up running backs Jeremy Langford and Jonathan Howard in subsequent drafts. Finally, an injury in 2017 would be the last straw as Carey would be placed on the injured reserve list, before the organization would ultimately cut him.

In his three seasons in Chicago, Carey ran the ball 111 times for 443 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he added with 13 catches for another 131 yards and a score.

Even with the decent level of production, he has hasn’t taken a snap in the NFL since the 2016 season!

Well, after time spent away from football, Carey is finally returning to the sport that has been so good to him. The guy who once dominated the Pac-12 will now have a run at dominating the Canadian Football League.

On Saturday, it was announced that Carey would sign with the Calgary Stampeders.

Now 25, he will have some stiff competition in front him. The Stampeders have a pretty loaded backfield and even though Carey is currently with their practice squad, he is confident in what he can show and do. In an interview with the Calgary Sun, Carey said; “I feel I’ve got opportunity here, but I’ve got to work extremely hard because the backs in front of me can hold their own…We’ll see what happens.”
