Arizona Football gains Commitment from JUCO Offensive Lineman

Months since their last commitment, the Arizona Football team gained another one in the class of 2019, this time from a BIG JUCO lineman!

Ask, and thou shall receive! As we’ve been wishing for more size and junior college talent, it seems the hard work in recruiting is finally paying off for Arizona Football.

On Saturday, as the Wildcats were battling the Bruins in Pasadena, Arizona gained their 12th commitment in the class of 2019. Meet their latest commit, Rocky Aitogi!

We mentioned that Arizona had recently offered the junior college lineman, and it appears it didn’t take long for him to decide since receiving the official offer. The Fort Scott Community College (Fort Scott, KS) standout committed to Arizona, picking the Wildcats over an offer from Delaware State.

His commitment became known via social media, when the news of his college choice made the rounds.

He becomes just the 12th commitment in the class and is a big one! Standing a massive 6-feet-7-inches and 345 pounds, the Hawaii native comes in with a bit of mystery.

Aitogi as we had stated has just two offers, and is what you would call either a late bloomer, or someone who has flown under the radar.

Just a freshman at Fort Scott, I feel Aitogi has plenty of upside. Beyond just his size, he’s a nice pick-up for a few reasons.

Being a junior college player, we feel he adds a physical maturity that a typical true freshmen don’t have, plus he has a little bit experience in the college game, albeit at the junior college level.

These are all advantages, I feel he brings to the table, plus, based on his film he looks like a physical player the Wildcats could use.

Mostly playing at right tackle for the Greyhounds, fundamentally Aitogi is solid. He has a nice kick-step backwards in his initial pass block, really keeping good pad level and not putting too much weight on his back heels to leave him unbalanced. He does a great job staying in front of his man, not really giving up much leverage, and even will use his strength to overpower his man.

He does lumber a bit in the run blocking at times, but if he gets a hand on you, you’re going down. Aitogi plays very physical, absolutely punishing his man in every opportunity that he can, finishing the play well.

There’s a lot to like in his film:

At Zona Zealots, we are excited for the commitment Rocky, and can’t wait to see what he can do in Tucson! Bear Down, Arizona!
