Current Arizona Football commits are seeing their recruitments heat up
It’s always an ongoing battle for Arizona Football on and off the gridiron as teams will compete for wins and players, current commits especially.
Recruiting is a rough game, as teams will vie for the best players to fit their system. Arizona Football is no stranger to some tough competition in the world of recruiting.
I think it’s fair to say, that no Arizona commit is truly a Wildcat until they sign on the dotted, National Letter of Intent line. Until signing day, anything goes.
Arizona Wildcats
Teams looking to best match talent to their team/ program will go for anyone they see as a best fit. When it comes to football recruiting, Arizona will always have a tough challenge.
Already competing in their own cutthroat conference, the Wildcats have to recruit against USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Stanford and ASU among others. Beyond that, you have talented programs everywhere still vying for the best talent, that’s why it becomes really tough.
So far, the Wildcats have 14 commits in the class of 2019, but as stated previously, no one is really “guaranteed” in this group until their letters of intent come back. Until then, any other potential suitors can sway these kids before signing day.
With weeks until the first signing day, a few Wildcats are already feeling a little of the outside pressure. Perhaps the most coming to Connecticut-based cornerback, Maurice Gaines, Jr.
A standout at St. Thomas More Prep School in Oakdale, CT, Gaines, Jr. has been having a terrific year, and teams are noticing.
Since committing back in July, more schools have been offering like crazy. In addition to the Wildcats, Gaines, Jr. now holds offers from; Arkansas, Baylor, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, Houston and Cincinnati among others.
However, he’s not the only one! Also receiving a bit more attention has been local offensive line commit, Jordan Morgan, who picked up an offer from conference rival, USC. Also, the Trojans have now offered another Arizona commit in Southern California athlete, Chris Roland.
While this isn’t to serve as some sort of a doom and gloom, or the sky is falling mentality, no, if anything, it shows the talent evaluation of the current staff.
Recruiting will always be a tough challenge for Arizona, but if this staff can continue to work hard on the recruiting trail, and find some underrated talent like it’s doing now, the program will continue to get better.
The current landscape of things at least looks promising of the group we have potentially coming in! Here’s to at least hoping the Wildcats can finish out the class strong!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited to see the continued development of the 2019 recruiting class can’t wait to see where Arizona ends up! Bear Down, Arizona!
