Arizona Football Recruiting stays hot gains another JUCO Commit
The Arizona Football team is staying busy these past few days, as the Wildcats officially picked their third commitment in the last two days.
The 2018 Arizona Football season is over, and now starts the long off-season. As the Wildcats see 12 seniors depart, they will now turn their focus to recruiting.
If the last 24 hours are indication of that, the Wildcats should be in store for a busy off-season!

Just as Arizona gained a commitment from Sylvain Yondjouen yesterday, and now Trevon Mason earlier today, they weren’t done. Arizona gained their third commitment in the last two days.
Meet Josh Donovan, the 6-foot-5-inch 330-pound offensive tackle from Trinity Valley Community College in College Station, TX. He’s rated 84th overall player nationally and 11th overall tackle at the Junior College level.
As Donovan becomes the 17th commit in the class of 2019, he coincidentally also becomes the third Junior College in this class. That’s a stark contrast from the classes under Rich Rodriguez, who seemed to seldom use the junior college ranks.
Regardless, Donovan is a nice pick-up for Arizona. As this season proved, it’s never a bad a idea to have immense depth along the offensive line, and adding junior college-level maturity, experience and size certainly can’t hurt.
Following his visit to Tucson, Donovan decided to shut his recruitment down, officially picking the Wildcats over offers from Arkansas and UNLV among others.

Coming in, he will have a great opportunity at immediate playing time. Arizona will say good bye to Layth Friekh, but beyond that, it’s always good to be at least two-players deep along the offensive front. Can’t imagine him at least getting a viable shot for playing time in 2019!
Mostly lining up at right tackle, I’d imagine Joe Gilbert and staff will want to keep Donovan on the outside.
Donovan’s strength comes in the running, showing good explosiveness off the line of scrimmage, being able to engage the defender pretty quickly. He has quick feet, uses good positioning in leveraging his blocks and drive his man down field.
He does fairly well in pass blocking, but sometimes looks as if he gets caught flat-footed. Pretty easy fix their, but he does have good hands to make up for it, and is able to use his superior strength to dominate.
Overall, he has impressive film, and the Wildcats I think got another nice addition here for 2019.
At Zona Zealots, we are excited for the addition of Donovan and can’t wait too see what he can brings to the Wildcats! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
