Following a tremendous career and senior season, Arizona Football commit Grant Gunnell is piling up on the well-deserved awards!

An era of high school dominance is finally over for Arizona Football commit Grant Gunnell, but before he takes the college stage, we first needed to honor a magnificent career.

Considered the ‘crowning jewel’ in the class of 2019 by some, the three-star, quasi-four-star quarterback from Houston, capped a terrific high school career compiling Texas-sized numbers over the last four seasons.

Beginning his career on varsity as a freshman in 2015, Gunnell has since played in 46 games for St. Pius X High School, helping the Panthers compile a 40-9 record in that time.

Over the years, he’s put up eye-popping numbers, leading a dominant period for the Houston-based High School, but that era of dominance is finally over.

In his time as quarterback, Gunnell threw for over 16,000 yards (a Texas state record), 195 touchdowns (also a Texas state record), to just 28 interceptions. More impressive than that is he had a completion percentage of nearly 70!

He also ran for another 1,600+ yards with 28 touchdowns, all according to Maxpreps!

He will join a talented class, rated as the No. 15 overall pro-style quarterback in the class, and is considered a Top 400 player according to 247sports.

Following a historical high school career, in addition to the well-deserved attention he’s been receiving, Gunnell is also bringing in quite the bevvy of awards and accolades.

At the Houston Touchdown Club Private High School Awards Dinner, Gunnell was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year, in addition to being named the Fox Sports Honda Dealers (Greater Houston Area) Player of the Year.

If that isn’t enough, Gunnell will represent the Wildcats well at the 2019 All-American Bowl hosted in San Antonio.

All well deserved, as Gunnell has done amazing things in his prep career. When he finally makes it to Tucson, big expectations will be in store for him.

For those who aren’t aware, he is a big quarterback (6-feet-6-inches and 222 pounds) with the ideal size that college coaches covet. He has the overall frame and skill set of a potential NFL draft pick, with the right college development.

Gunnell is accurate and has plenty of upside and boasts all the physical tools you could ever ask for in a quarterback.

Just take a look at a remarkable senior season he had!
